Life can get really busy sometimes and the next thing you know, months have passed you by. With work, chores, errands, school, finances, helping people in their time of need, and being a support system for your family, friends, and community, you can totally forget to add yourself to the equation! It is truly a blessing to be able to help others as well as taking care of day to day necessities, but when you overdo it, you run into the possibility of giving out till you have nothing to give. You may find that you don’t have the energy or time for yourself and it can leave you feeling depleted. Make sure that while you are uplifting and helping others, as well as marking things off of your “To-Do List” that you have people around you that are sensitive to your needs as well. It is always good to have people in your life that can pour into you when you have poured out so much in others, especially if they are people whose company you enjoy because of their positive conversation and presence. Make sure you know your friend's personality traits, never try to make a “receiver” a “giver”! A receiver will want something reciprocated for pouring into you while a giver will recognize from your conversation what you need and is willing to give it to you without asking for anything in return. Identify who those people are, if you have just one, you are still considered blessed by any standard. Sometimes you have to take a step back and make sure that you are taking care of yourself as well. Make sure to set aside some time where you can participate in activities that nurture your Spirit. Make a list of the activities that rejuvenating you and do those when your well is getting a little low. Strike a balance so that as you pour out, you are getting poured into so that you never let your well run dry.
