Today it was hard to get my workout done. I hadn't been sleeping that well, I was feeling a little under the weather, and on top of that, my knees were starting to bother me. When this happens, I still usually want to get some movement in but also be mindful of my current state. This is why it is always important to be in tune with your body and mental state to leave room for adjustments as needed. Since I wasn't feeling majorly ill or injured, I decided to do the modified version of my workout. I have several versions of my "movement" workout where the overall goal is to get my body moving and blood flowing so I avoid sinking back into a sedentary lifestyle. My workout can range from a shorter walk with Kallie and doing the easy/basic version of my workout, to a full walking distance with Kallie and full throttle workout with weights. The beauty of having a range of exercises is that you can change the variation intensity level according to your day. So on a day like today, where I wasn't feeling my best, I chose to do a full walk with Kallie paired with an easy/basic workout that consisted of lateral ski jumps and basic boxing movements. This way my body and knees can recover, but I also get the cardio and movement my body needs for the day. Always remember, it doesn't have to be all or nothing, doing things differently from day-to-day is still a win.
(Please note: If you are having extreme cold or flu symptoms and/or injuries, please refrain from any activity until you are feeling better. Your body needs the energy to fight off any major bug and time to rest so injuries can improve.)
